The fee will be deducted from your checking account linked to your debit card. Do I have to order a Make a Statement card when my regular debit card expires?

No. Make a Statement is an optional service that allows you to personalize your Mercantile MasterMoney Debit Card only if you so choose.  If you do not choose to take advantage of this service, you will continue to be issued a standard design debit card at no charge.

How often can I change my card image?

You may change your card image as often as you like by placing a new Make a Statement card order. Each image change and card order will incur a personalized card fee ($15.00). Each time you order a new card, your expiration date will advance to the next term.

What happens when my card expires?

Upon expiration of your Make a Statement card, a new card will be issued using the last image you uploaded, and your account will be assessed a personalized card fee ($15.00). If you have not uploaded a new image, you will be issued the same image as your most recent card. If you would like to change the image on your personalized debit card before your card expires, please do so before the 1st of the month in which the card expires. For example, if your card has an expiration of 6/14, please order a new card with a new image on or before 6/1/14.

How does my photo get approved?

Each image submitted is reviewed for compliance with the Image Guidelines. Once your image is approved, you will receive an approval email from our Make a Statement partner, Shazam Network (personalcard@us.personalcard.net) and your card order will be processed. The image approval portion of this process may take up to 2 business days, and your card should arrive within 10-14 business days.

How will I know if my image is denied?

If your image does not meet the Image Guidelines, you will be notified by email from our Make a Statement partner, Shazam Network (personalcard@us.personalcard.net). If you receive an email advising that your image has been denied, simply follow the instructions provided in the email to redesign your card using a new image. In most cases it may be as simple as selecting an image that does not prominently feature any type of trademark or anything protected under copyright. You will not be charged a fee for a rejected image.

Will I need to provide authentication for my debit card?

Yes. When ordering your new personalized debit card you will need to provide your card number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. An error in either one of these will prevent your card order from being processed. You may still receive an image approval email, but that does not mean your order was placed if an error occurred. If you receive an error when providing your card number or the last four digits of your Social Security Number please contact us.

May I bring a photo to the bank for a Make a Statement Debit Card?

Yes. If you do not have access to a computer, you may bring an actual photo into the bank for us to scan, and we will assist you in placing your personalized debit card order. You may also bring in a photo stored on your camera’s SD card or saved to a CD-ROM. Please note, however, that we are not able to assist you with any photos stored on a USB drive.

Can Mercantile adjust the picture to make it look nicer on the card?

No. We are not able to adjust the picture in any way. Please make sure to place the picture exactly where you want it to be and make any adjustments within the card designer program. What you see is what you will get!

Will my PIN change on my card?

No. Your personal identification number or PIN will stay the same unless you wish to request a new one. You will need to call or stop by any branch location to do this.

Will my existing card work until my new Make a Statement Debit Card arrives?

Yes. Your existing card will continue to work until you activate your new Make a Statement Debit Card. Please immediately destroy and safely discard your current card once the new card is activated. You are welcome to bring it to the bank and we will destroy it for you.

Will the expiration date change on my card?

Yes. Your new Make a Statement Debit Card will advance your expiration date for the next full term from the date you ordered your new card. You will also receive a new security card value or CCV number. For your convenience, your card account number and PIN will be the same, but by providing you with a new expiration and security value, your old card data will no longer be valid and cannot be used by fraudsters.

Important:  Please contact any service providers or creditors to whom you have provided your debit card information for any recurring payment arrangements; provide them with your new card expiration date. If you do not update your card information your recurring payments may be denied.

Can I go back to a standard design card after I have ordered a Make a Statement card?

Yes. You may choose to go back to a standard design card issued at no charge upon your Make a Statement card’s expiration. You must notify us of your request at least 30 days in advance of your personalized card’s expiration. For example, if your card has an expiration of 6/14, please notify us on or before 6/1/14 of your wish to cancel this service and return to a standard design card.
