FDIC Transaction Account Guarantee Program

Mercantile Bank is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program.  Under this program, through December 31st, 2010, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account.

Noninterest-bearing checking accounts include Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs) and any transaction account that has unlimited withdrawals and that cannot earn interest. Also included are Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTAs), regardless of the interest rate; and Negotiable Order of Withdrawal (NOW) accounts that do not earn more than 0.25% interest from July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.

Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
